Dr. William Ehman

As a family physician in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Dr. William Ehman has provided the full scope of family medicine, including maternity and newborn care, to his patients since 1978. He is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Ehman is an instructor for Advances in Labour and Risk Management courses and Fetal Health Surveillance courses, a member of the SOGC Family Physician Advisory, and a member of the Canadian Paediatric Society’s Fetus and Newborn Committee. He was a member of the moreOB development committee and facilitates support for the moreOB and moreEX programs to promote patient safety in Canada. 

“It is my hope that the Maternity and Newborn Care MIG will become a home for sharing knowledge, promotion, and support for family physicians” in this domain of care, says Dr. Ehman, who chairs the Maternity and Newborn Care Member Interest Group.
