Celebrating Pride Month with CFPC Pride
The CFPC recognizes the importance of offering sensitive, gender-affirming care to people in the 2SLGBTQ+ communities. Many individuals from these communities have faced significant barriers when accessing primary care. Studies have shown that this can lead to poor health outcomes in many domains including mental health and cancer.
More than one million people in Canada identify as 2SLGBTQ+. It’s likely a family physician cares or will care for one or more individuals from the 2SLGBTQ+ community in their practice, and it’s important for them to have the appropriate resources to address the unique needs of these individuals.
CFPC Pride was created by the 2SLGBTQ+ Health member interest group to highlight the work family physicians have done to support people in these communities, while also providing resources for family physicians looking to expand their knowledge and ability to ensure all patients feel welcome and safe.
The CFPC is doing great work to educate family physicians about 2SLGBTQ+ health.
