2023 Developmental Disabilities Webinar series: “Family practice care of the adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) – new tools for efficiency and effectiveness”

A webinar series from the Developmental Disabilities Member Interest Group

Intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) present lifelong challenges in personal, social, academic, and occupational functioning.

Our skills and practices as family doctors can serve adults with IDD well, but we must make the best use of our resources. This webinar series was created to present to family doctors with tools that are available to assist with the care of adults with IDD, including the new health check tool created by Surrey Place. This point-of-care tool helps primary care providers implement the evidence-informed Comprehensive Health Assessment, or Health Check, for adults with IDD. It identifies health issues for adults with IDD that family physicians should consider when they undertake annual Health Checks.

This webinar series includes case presentations and discussions of tools developed by family doctors to help implement the “Canadian Consensus Guidelines for the Primary Care of Adults with IDD” (published in Canadian Family Physician, April 2018).

Advance webinar registration is not required.
